Ten months ago I began working on “Quinny,” the book. It is the inspiring true story about two Native American men living life in the extreme who ended up in prison as a result of a tragic event on December 8, 1999. In fact, the story is a real-life Jean Valjean – Champ Mathieu story (for those Les Miserables fans out there). It’s Life in the Extreme. As Immanuel Kant eloquently stated, there exists in life a categorical imperative, which means there are things one MUST do no matter what the consequences. In the words of Princeton professor, Chris Hedges, “By living for others [helps us] become our best selves.”
Great efforts have been exerted by multiple people to bring the story forward for the public to read. There are still some final polishing edits being made, but the book will be published soon. A link to Amazon will be emailed to you once it is available. Perhaps no one will buy it. That is fine with me. It wasn’t written for that purpose. I wrote it for my brothers, in loving service to them as we share life in the extreme. As long as they have the story in their possession, that is what matters.
My hope is that Wakado and Quinny are able to get their lives back and find peace. They deserve it.
I conclude with Leo Tolstoy’s dictum: “The only certain happiness in life is to live for others.” The last ten months of my life were lived for Wakado and Quinny. Brothers, I love you.
